Day 1
Airport – Negombo

Highlights:
Negombo city, Fish market, dutch fort, Angurukaaramulla Temple, fishermans bay, St. Mary’s Church, Dutch Canal, Fishes drying on the beach.
if interested you can take a Dutch Canal or Muthurajawela Marsh private boat tour.

Day 2
Negombo – Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura currently serves as the capital city of the North Central Province, and is considered the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Its vast network of ancient Buddhist temples, monasteries and places of worship which cover over 40 sq kms has made it a sacred site to Buddhists around the world.

Day 3
Anuradhpura -Habarana
Visit Wilpattu National park in the morning and continue to Habarana.

Highlights:
Wilpattu National Park is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest wildlife parks. Wilpattu’s varying natural habitats; coastal belt, natural lakes (villus), cliff tops, scrublands, open grasslands and dense forest provide for numerous species of animals. Many of the `big game’ found in Sri Lanka including elephant, sloth bear, water buffalo, spotted dear and leopard can be seen here. The coastal belt and natural lakes attract many species of birds such as Painted Storks, Black-headed Ibis, Asian Open-bills, Whistling Teals, Eurasian Spoonbills, Little & Indian Cormorants and many species of king fishers as well as water monitors and mugger crocodiles. It also contains a number of important cultural sites.

Day 4
Habarana – Polonnaruwa ( Can have cycles @ site )

Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its preserved ruins and restored ancient irrigation reservoirs is a “must visit” cultural destination of Sri Lanka Holidays. As much as the preserved cultural monuments would enlighten the tourists.

Minneriya National park/ Eco park in the afternoon

24 species of Mammals have been recorded from the park. In addition to having a very large population of Elephants in the park, Minneriya also has all other big game like Leopards, Sloth Bear, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Wild Buffalo, Wild Pig, Grey Langers, Purple-faced Leaf Monkey, three species of Mongoose, Porcupine & Indian Pangolin.

Habarana

Day 5
Habarana – Sigiriya rock fortress – Habarana

We continue to the citadel of Sigiriya, founded over 1500 years ago, which is one of the most remarkable creations in the world. The king transformed a 200m rock into an impregnable fortress. Today the site offers the visitor a chance to see the world famous gallery of 5th century frescoes and the patricide kings palace on the summit. We climb the Sigiriya Hilltop fortress for stunning views to the forests below.

Day 6
Habarana – Dambulla cave temple – Spice Garden

Dambulla Rock Temple which was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC. Dambulla is world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of 5 caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceiling is the largest area of paintings round in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Kandy

Drive to Kandy via one of Sri Lanka’s famous spice gardens before continuing to Kandy, a pleasant mountain town lying 500m above sea level, and the most spiritual town on the island. Later visit the lake; along with some local handicrafts, before witnessing a classic Kandyan cultural dance show. Early evening, in time for the evening pooja, we visit the Temple of the Tooth, housing a relic from the Lord Buddha which was collected from his funeral pyre and brought to Sri Lanka over 1500 years ago.

Day 7
Kandy

Day 8
Kandy – Kithulgala Water rafting – Nallathanni (Adam’s peak )

Experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River, covering 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. This activity is for anyone above the age of 10 years with safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by our white water rafting instructors beforehand.

Climbing Adam’s peak ( 2.00a.m )

Sri Pada, or Adam’s Peak, is sacred to all four main religious groups in Sri Lanka – the Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and the Christians. The giant footprint at the top is variously claimed as an imprint either of Lord Buddha, God Shiva, Adam, or St. Thomas, the Christian Apostle who preached in south India.

Ella – Thissamaharama

Ella is blessed with some of the most beautiful views in Sri Lanka. Ella is an excellent base to explore the surrounding mountains, forests & villages,

Day 12
Thissamaharama – Yala National park – Mirissa

Yala National Park gives the best opportunity to witness Sri Lanka’s broad variety of wildlife: colorful painted stork in troops are seen perched at the shores of lagoon where the crocodiles too have chosen to doze off; lovely fantailed peacocks in their resplendent blues and greens parade about amidst the woods where monkeys hang, leap and chatter; in the bush jungle are the Elephants; crossing the tracks and wandering off into the thorny scrub jungle is the star attraction of the park: the leopard.

Day 13
Mirissa ( leisure @ beach )

Whale and dolphin watching in Mirissa is one of the most exciting water activities you can do in Sri Lanka during your holiday.

Mirissa is the best place to start your whale and dolphin watching tour in Sri Lanka.
In warm Indian ocean you can see Blue whales, Bryde´s whales, Sperm whales, Fin whales, sometimes Killer whales, and Common dolphins, Bottlenose dolphins, Spinner dolphins, Risso’s dolphins and Striped dolphins. Sometimes you can see turtles and various fish species, for example Bluefin tuna and flying fish.
